Security seals on oil and gas equipment, from tanker valves and pipeline meters to bulk chemical containers and fuel hatch covers, provide documented, tamper-evident evidence that product has not been accessed, diverted, or adulterated between authorized checkpoints. In fuel distribution, a broken or missing seal at delivery is cause to stop the delivery entirely and investigate before any product is offloaded, protecting the carrier, shipper, and receiver from liability.
The oil and gas line includes plastic pull-tight seals, padlock seals, strap seals, adjustable and fixed-length cable seals, aluminum wire seals, lead seals, and acrylic meter seals. Cable seals and wire seals are most common for tanker valves. Meter seals are used on metering station fittings. Heavier strap and bolt seals are used on bulk container hatches and transport doors. Adjustable cable seals tighten to fit valve handles, fittings, and hasps of varying diameters, making them versatile for mixed fleets or field applications where configurations differ. Fixed-length cable seals have a set cable diameter and are better suited for standardized installations where the same fitting is sealed every time, offering a more consistent and repeatable closure. Scanning seal numbers at the loading terminal and delivery point allows operators to build a complete electronic chain-of-custody log for every tanker load, pipeline meter reading, or bulk shipment, supporting both internal compliance programs and regulatory documentation requirements for fuel distribution.
Yes. Custom sequential numbering, company name, logo, and color options are available on most seal models. Many fuel distributors use color-coded, custom-numbered seals to differentiate between product grades, drivers, or delivery routes, making unauthorized seal substitution immediately apparent to terminal staff and delivery inspectors at the point of receipt.
All seals in this line are single-use and must be cut to remove; they cannot be unlocked or reversed. A standard pair of wire cutters or bolt cutters appropriate to the seal diameter and material is the correct removal tool. The broken seal should be retained and logged against the shipment or meter record, and a new numbered seal applied immediately after the authorized access event is complete. Never discard removed seals before logging the serial number.
