For ISO 17712 High Security compliance on international container shipments, a certified bolt seal (Model ISO-1H) is the required choice.
Breaking strengths range from 25 lbs (11.3 kg) on lighter pull-tight models up to 155 lbs on heavy-duty fixed-length cable seals. For trailer door applications, a seal in the 100 to 155 lb range is generally appropriate. For pallet totes, courier bags, and document pouches, a lighter model is sufficient and more cost-effective for the security level those applications require.

Do not accept or offload the load until the discrepancy is formally documented. The driver and receiver should note the broken or missing seal on the delivery receipt with both parties' signatures, photograph the seal and container door, and notify the shipper and carrier immediately. Depending on the cargo and applicable compliance program, law enforcement or the insurer may also need to be contacted before the container is opened.
